A senior individual-contributor role with clear scope to influence platform direction, hiring, and engineering practice. Reports to the Head of Engineering. Hybrid working, Lusaka base.
Role description
ADVIS is partnering with Wilocate, a Zambian logistics-tech company, on a confidential search for a Senior Software Engineer. The successful appointee will own the architecture and delivery of customer-facing platform services, mentor a small engineering team, and partner closely with product and operations leadership.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate production services that power the Wilocate platform.
- Own technical decisions end-to-end: API design, data modelling, deployment and observability.
- Lead code review, raise the engineering bar and mentor mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with product, design and operations to ship measurable customer outcomes.
- Contribute to hiring, on-call practice and incident review.
Requirements
- 6+ years building and operating production software, ideally on cloud infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript or a comparable typed language, plus SQL.
- Experience taking systems from prototype to production at scale.
- Demonstrated ownership of architecture decisions and their consequences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders.
